This special candle lighting ceremony will be held at the Northwood Gratitude and Honor Memorial in Northwood Community Park. Guests will be guided through a time of reflection and a remembrance tribute to honor fallen American service members in Afghanistan and Iraq. The ceremony is held in partnership with the Northwood Memorial Committee. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Northwood Community Park is at 4531 Bryan Ave., Irvine.

New Great Park Gallery Exhibition Explores the Intersection of Basketball and the Arts

A new exhibition arrives at the Great Park Gallery Sunday, May 17. GAME! Basketball and Contemporary Art explores basketball as a source of creative expression and cultural influence. A free opening reception will be held May 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the gallery. Guests can also enjoy Mini Hoops: Create and Play, a free, hands-on art activity for all ages, featuring mini basketball hoops ready for decorating.

Pride in Irvine Returns May 22 with a Community Celebration
