Join the City of Irvine Tuesday, August 11, and celebrate the opening of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail (JOST) Bicycle & Pedestrian Bridge — the largest bridge in Irvine.
Be among the first to walk or ride across the nearly 1,200-foot-long bridge. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. at the bridge entry on Jeffrey Road at Walnut Avenue.
The Jeffrey Open Space Trail (JOST) opened as a 3.5-mile trail in 2015. In March 2024, the City launched a project to extend the trail, including construction of the bridge and a new trail segment stretching from Barranca Parkway to Walnut Avenue.
The bridge is approximately 1,200 feet long and 15 feet wide, spanning the I-5 Freeway, the Caltrans Park & Ride parking lot, and Walnut Avenue.
The completion of the project will close a gap in the City’s overall trail network and provide a key linkage between trails that extend from the Pacific Ocean all the way up to the Santa Ana Mountains and Cleveland National Forest.
Guests are encouraged to ride their bikes to the event.
