Irvine, CA (June 6, 2015): The victim in a homicide case being investigated by the Irvine Police Department (IPD) has been identified as 19-year-old Octavio Jesus Alcala of Santa Ana.

On the morning of June 5, 2015, employees arriving to work at a construction site in the area of Wolf Trail and Orchard Hills located a deceased adult male, later identified as Alcala. The victim was located face-down in a remote, graded construction area that does not have any buildings. The construction workers called 911 and IPD responded to the scene.

Irvine, Ca (June 11, 2015):  The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injury and deaths and raising awareness about the dangers caused by alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted tomorrow, Friday, June 12, 2015, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the area of Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive.

The checkpoint will be conducted tomorrow, Saturday, July 11, 2015, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the area of Bake Parkway and Rockfield Boulevard.

Irvine, CA (July 15, 2015): The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested a suspect one day after he committed a robbery in an Irvine bank. Michael Ladon Sheppard, 53, Gardena, was arrested today, July 15, 2014, and is being held on $100,000 bail.

Irvine, CA (July 16, 2015): A man was arrested by the Irvine Police Department (IPD) for domestic violence and carjacking the victim following the assault. Tarrin Joseph Rippel, 29, is in custody at the Orange County Jail.

Irvine, CA (July 18, 2015): The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested a man for murder in an Irvine parking lot. The suspect has been identified as Hongli Sun, 38, of Irvine.

At approximately 1:20 p.m. today, July 18, 2015, Sun was in his Mercedes sport utility vehicle in a parking lot at 4980 Barranca Parkway. The suspect observed a 34-year-old man, whom he believed was having a relationship with Sun’s wife, and drove his vehicle at the victim with the intention of hitting him with the car.

Irvine, CA (July 30, 2015): The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested a man for sexual assault. Matthew Joseph Hamm, 27, was arrested on charges of rape, assault, and domestic violence.

In April 2014, Hamm was involved in a dating relationship with an adult female. On at least one occasion, the suspect physically and sexually assaulted the victim.
