IRVINE, CA (February 25, 2015):  Preference for veterans is part of this month’s City Council approval of an 80-unit permanently affordable rental housing project at 17275 Derian in the Irvine Business Complex.

City Council approval of the project meets the City’s affordable housing inclusionary requirement while including a preference for veterans.

IRVINE, CA (February 24, 2015):  Mayor Steven S. Choi, Ph.D., tonight delivered his third State of the City Address. Topics included 688 acres at the Orange County Great Park now being developed as parkland and sports fields in a public-private agreement; the local economy including the City Council’s plan to pay off the unfunded liability years early; and the continued growth of Irvine as a tech center, including a new incubator for emerging entrepreneurs that is now open in Irvine.

IRVINE, CA – Just before 3:00 a.m. Irvine police officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress on Winterfield. Arriving officers spotted the suspect, 19-year-old, Matthew Kozlov of Anaheim Hills, leaving the area.  Kozlov fled, running through several neighboring properties and was ultimately found hiding in a nearby backyard and was arrested without incident. 

IRVINE, CA – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injury and deaths and raising awareness about the dangers caused by alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. in the area of Jeffrey Road and Alton Parkway.

IRVINE, CA (February 10, 2015):  The City of Irvine, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, will host “Irvine Has Heart,” a community food drive, from February 14 through March 31 to help families and seniors in need. The goal of the drive is to collect 3,500 pounds of canned food items.

Greenwood, has been hired in an interim position to bring an experienced focus to the Irvine Animal Care Center – a focus that underscores his experience dating back to his first degree from 1967, in zoology.

IRVINE, CA (February 2, 2015):  The City of Irvine is accepting applications to fill two community member-at-large vacancies on the Irvine Children, Youth and Families Advisory Committee. Comprised of 15 members, the Committee is an advisory body to the Community Services Commission and provides ongoing review and evaluation of the Irvine Strategic Plan for Children, Youth and Families.

IRVINE, CA – A male pedestrian has died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle while lying in the roadway. 

At approximately 12:10 a.m. today, Jan. 29, 2015, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. The collision occurred on Alton Parkway near the Lake Road intersection.
