City of Irvine announces UCI Health as presenting partner of Great Park Sports Complex

The City of Irvine and UCI Health announced an agreement for the healthcare provider to become the presenting partner of world-class sports complex that exists at Irvine’s Great Park. In addition to annual funding, UCI Health will provide public health and wellness events, education, strategic guidance to the City on health-related initiatives, and public engagement events such as blood drives and vaccinations.

Great Park Development Town Hall

The City of Irvine is hosting a town hall meeting Monday, March 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Great Park Artist Studios. We will discuss the progress at Great Park and the plan for work on site in the coming months during the next phase of development, which includes site preparation and demolition of vacant structures.

 The Great Park Artist Studios is located at 8000 Great Park Blvd., Irvine.

Great Park Development Town Hall

In July 2022, the City of Irvine approved the Great Park Framework Plan to guide the next phase of development. In preparation for construction, site preparation and demolition of vacant structures will get underway the coming months. This includes soil testing, remediation and monitoring, and other precautions to limit disruption in the neighborhood.

Christopher Slama named Director of Community Services and Dena Diggins named Deputy Director of Community Services

Following a national recruitment, the City of Irvine has named Christopher Slama as Director of Community Services and Dena Diggins as Deputy Director of Community Services.

Slama comes to Irvine from the City of Huntington Beach, where he has held several key leadership positions, most recently serving as Director of Community and Library Services. As director, he led a department of 62 full-time and 300 part-time staff, while overseeing a full-service parks and recreation operation, along with a well-regarded library department.

Celebrate Spring during Egg-a-POOL-Looza April 8 at Woollett Aquatics Center

Celebrate spring with the City of Irvine during the Egg-a-Pool-Looza event Saturday, April 8, 2─5 p.m., at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center.

Children can enjoy family splash time, egg hunt stations, face painting, as well as spring crafts and games. New this year, special activities for children ages 10─14 years old including an underwater eggsploration, obstacle course, and games. An opportunity to take photos with a special guest bunny and hop into the bounce houses will also be available as part of the spring celebration.

Join OC Waste & Recycling for a free compost giveaway event Saturday, April 1, from 8 a.m. to noon. 

Proof of residency is required. Residents can visit the following locations to receive free compost while supplies last. If visiting the Irvine and San Juan locations, bring a shovel and container to fill. Quantities are limited; the event is subject to weather conditions.
