Starting April 1, the City of Irvine will implement an organics recycling program that aligns with California’s organic waste reduction law, Senate Bill 1383. This law, which was passed in 2016, requires California cities to reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfills by 75% by 2025.

Organic waste includes food waste, yard waste, and other materials that can be composted or used for energy production. SB 1383 aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by diverting organic waste from landfills, where it decomposes and produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas.

Mayor Farrah N. Khan has joined mayors across the country for the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation by asking the Irvine community to make a long-term commitment to manage water resources more wisely.

The suspect is identified as 53-year-old Christopher Eduard of Los Angeles. He is described as 5’-9” tall, 125 pounds, and brown hair and eyes. He drives a green, 2019 Kia Soul.

Following a rigorous nationwide recruitment, the City of Irvine has selected Sean Crumby to serve as the first Director of the new Project Delivery & Sustainability Department.
