Irvine Senior Services will host free Open House events Wednesday, April 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. to give residents and community members a look at programs and services offered at three dedicated senior centers in Irvine.

Visitors are invited to view program demonstrations, take home flyers with information about upcoming classes and recreational activities, visit the senior resources table, learn about transportation services, and sign up for volunteer opportunities to provide and transport meals to seniors. Participants can sample free fitness classes for Zumba, boxing, and more.

Mayor Farrah N. Khan has joined mayors across the country for the National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation by asking residents and businesses to make a long-term commitment to manage water resources more wisely.  

Join the City of Irvine in “Serving Up Smiles” to our community’s seniors by becoming an Irvine Senior Services volunteer. There is an urgent need for Meals on Wheels drivers and Dining Room servers. Shifts are available 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Mondays–Fridays. Time commitments are as little as one day a week, and your support helps ensure seniors in the Irvine community get proper nutrition while socializing and making friends.

The Irvine Police Department has partnered with Project 529 (Open in new window) to give Irvine residents a quick and easy way to register their bikes with the City. 

The Irvine Animal Care Center invites all runners, walkers, and animal-lovers to support animals in need during its 2022 Virtual 5K throughout the month of April. The center’s Virtual 5K can be completed at any location you choose April 1–30, can be done at your own pace, and is timed yourself.

The Virtual 5K is an ideal way to support animals in need. Log your 5K in walks around the neighborhood with your household members, or while running on the treadmill in your living room. You can help the center’s animals while staying healthy and active yourself.

The City of Irvine is hosting Spring Around the World, a celebration of springtime cultural holidays and traditions. This free event will take place Saturday, April 2, 11 a.m.–4 p.m., in the heart of Great Park. Spring Around the World will be a meaningful, inclusive celebration that incorporates the best of Irvine’s diverse heritages to offer a wide variety of multicultural food options, interactive and educational spring activities, live performances, and art exhibitions.
