Irvine City Council Modifies Name of Orange County Great Park

The Irvine City Council approved a modification to the name of the Orange County Great Park at their meeting July 27. The action will drop “Orange County” from the park’s name, to be more reflective of the ownership of the park and its growing national appeal.

California State Senator Dave Min Presents $14.5 Million Check to Irvine for Jeffrey Open Space Trail Completion

The City of Irvine was presented a $14.5 million check from Senator Dave Min at Cypress Community Center Wednesday, August 11, for the completion of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail project. Irvine Mayor Farrah N. Khan and City Council members accepted the check at a presentation attended by State and City officials and members of the Bicycle Club of Irvine.

The City of Irvine was presented a $14.5 million check from Senator Dave Min for the completion of the Jeffrey Open Space Trail project. The $14.5 million will support a critical piece of the trail that has yet to be finished: a 1.5 mile extension running from Barranca to I-5.

The City of Irvine encourages the community to take control of their health and wellness by attending the 12th annual Senior Fitness Expo Friday, August 27, 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at the Rancho Senior Center. This free outdoor event geared toward adults 50 and older features health screenings, educational presentations, and a wide variety of the latest health and fitness exhibitors.

Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License checkpoint as part of the Department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted on Saturday, August 14, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway.

We Are Irvine: Living Resource Guide Series Lecture 1

In honor of the City’s 50th anniversary and as part of the City’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative, the City of Irvine and South Coast Chinese Cultural Center (SCCCC) are collaborating to offer the We Are Irvine: Living Resource Guide Series for Chinese-Irvine newcomers. The collective efforts of the City and SCCCC will highlight lessons learned from Chinese American immigrants and Irvine residents, and support new residents by minimizing anxieties due to language barriers, misunderstandings, or other unknowns.
