Today, at a special meeting the Irvine City Council unanimously voted to file an amicus brief in response to a December 11, 2020 court order that requires an early release of up to 50 percent of the inmates currently held in Orange County jails. The City of Irvine’s “friend of the court” statement challenges the court order as written, suggesting instead that it is possible to protect the health and safety of inmates without releasing them.
The City of Irvine and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive at the Orange County Great park on January 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There is a constant need for blood, and your blood donation can help ensure patients don't have to wait to receive needed care.
Irvine residents can safely and securely dispose of up to five banker-size file boxes (dimensions 24 inches x 12 inches) at a mobile shredding unit on-site.
Due to COVID-19, there will be strict safety measures enforced, residents must wear a face mask and remain in their vehicle until attended to.
PLEASE NOTE: The event is first-come, first-served, and will end when truck capacity is reached.
