Grab your swimsuit and enjoy recreational swimming with family while the movie Moana plays on the big screen during the City of Irvine’s Splash-In Movie & Recreation Swim on Saturday, Aug. 26, at William Woollett Jr. Aquatics Center. The family-friendly summer outing kicks off with swimming at 6:30 p.m.; movie starts at dusk.
The recreation swim fee is $2 per child and $4 per adult. No registration is required and all fees are due at the pool. Lifeguards will be on duty.

Since the rise of Western abstract painting in the mid-20th century to the development of today’s contemporary art, female abstract artists have often been overlooked. In collaboration with curator Suzanne Walsh, Painting in the Abstract: Women Inspired by the Masters explores the impact and diversity of women in the Southern California art scene while showcasing how they are challenging the medium and echoing the legacies of the mid-century female masters.
Support animals in need while enjoying a comedic night out on the town at the second annual Comedy Unleashed fundraiser Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Irvine Improv. Guests will be treated to dinner and a show featuring comedian Debi Gutierrez, with nearly half the proceeds going toward the Irvine Animal Care Center.
The Irvine Animal Care Center is participating in Clear the Shelters, a nationwide adoption event hosted locally by NBC4 and Telemundo52. On Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., all adoptions will be just $20. Click here for more information.
The City of Irvine invites the community to Rancho Senior Center for its 9th annual Senior Fitness Expo from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Aug. 25. This free event geared toward adults ages 50 and older features health screenings, nutrition presentations, fitness demonstrations and a wide variety of the latest health and fitness exhibitors.
Guests will learn how to improve their well-being through exercises including yoga, chair volleyball, circuit trainings and more. The Senior Fitness Expo will also feature an opportunity drawing.

Irvine, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2017) – The Irvine Police Department is looking for a suspect who broke into a home in the Woodbury neighborhood on Monday afternoon. The suspect was captured on video inside the house as well as leaving the residence.
