Discover the Library of Things

Need something for a one-time project or want to try a new hobby? Borrow before you buy! Irvine Public Library’s Library of Things collection offers a variety of unique items you can check out for free with your library card, including musical instruments, gadgets, kits, electronics, games, and more.

Explore something new, tackle a project, or discover your next favorite hobby.

Irvine Public Library encourages everyone to discover the joy of gardening and grow their own food.

The Seed Library is a seed share system offering free access to heirloom seeds. Different varieties of seeds are offered throughout the year, rotating seasonally. Varieties include vegetables such as tomatoes, peas, carrots, lettuce, spinach, and herbs.

Start small, grow something new, and see what sprouts.

How It Works

The Seed Library is located at the Information Desk on the first floor of Katie Wheeler Library.

Browse the Seed Library cabinet drawers and pick up to three packets per month, one per seed variety.

Stop by the Borrower Services Desk to check out your seeds.

Plant, grow, and enjoy—no returns required.
