After the success of the initial vaccine clinic hosted by the City of Irvine and MemorialCare February 19, the City and the hospital extended their alliance and held another COVID-19 vaccine clinic for Irvine senior citizens.

City of Irvine and Hoag Partner to Provide COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

Through the continued efforts of Mayor Farrah N. Khan’s COVID-19 Task Force, the City of Irvine and Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian partnered to provide a small COVID-19 vaccine clinic for Irvine senior citizens.

The small vaccine clinic took place Thursday, March 4 at Lakeview Senior Center. A total of 300 seniors aged 65 and over received the COVID-19 vaccine. With nearly 28,000 seniors aged 65 and over in the City, the City of Irvine is making it a priority to get seniors vaccinated against the coronavirus.

City of Irvine and UCI Reach Settlement on Proposed UCI Medical Complex

The City of Irvine and the University of California, Irvine (UCI) reached an agreement over the proposed Irvine Campus Medical Complex, a world-class health care facility that will employ thousands and provide much needed health services to the community. Under the agreement, UCI will invest $6.5 million in the transportation infrastructure necessary to support the new development, and address associated noise and traffic impacts.

The City of Irvine will host a second Virtual Community Budget Meeting on March 25 for the upcoming fiscal year 2021-23 Biennial Budget cycle. The meeting will include virtual presentations and dialogue to answer budget questions and discuss community insights. The workshop will be held Thursday, March 25 at 9 a.m. via Zoom and Facebook Live. A previous budget workshop was held March 11.

New State Guidelines on Outdoor Youth Sports

Effective Friday, February 26, all OUTDOOR organized youth sports and recreation (including K-12 school programs, community sponsored recreational programs, and privately-organized clubs and leagues) involving “moderate” and “high-contact” between players will be permitted to resume in Orange County.  This modification is permissible because Orange County’s COVID-19 case rate is less than 14 cases for every 100,000 residents.  Below is a list of the permitted OUTDOOR youth sports (effective 2/26/21):
