Irvine Police Arrest Suspect in Jewelry Robbery

The Irvine Police (IPD) has arrested a suspect in a commercial robbery in Irvine. Fredemclave Ishan Benjaminanderson (AKA: Fredemclave Ishan Benjamin Anderson), 20, of Menifee was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.

On October 17, 2022, a man walked into a jewelry store at the Irvine Spectrum. As he was looking at an expensive necklace, he suddenly ran out of the store with the item. Employees tried to stop him, but they were not successful. The man left the area in a gray Toyota Corolla.

UCI Health Blood Drive November 10

UCI Health and the City of Irvine are partnering for a series of blood drives which will be held at Great Park. A blood supply crisis is posing a concerning risk to patient care both locally and nationally. To address the great need for blood donations in Orange County, a UCI Health Blood Drive will take place Thursday, November 10, from noon to 6 p.m. near the Great Park Visitors Center.

Appointments are suggested but not required, and walk-in's will be accepted.

Irvine Fine Arts Center’s 40th Annual Holiday Faire is November 5

The Irvine Fine Arts Center invites the community to the 40th annual Holiday Faire Saturday, November 5, 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at Great Park. An event that began as a home boutique and has since tripled in size, the Holiday Faire has become Irvine’s favorite destination to shop and support local artists, and expose new and established artists to a growing community.

In honor of veterans and in support of their families, the City of Irvine is hosting a special Veterans Day Ceremony Monday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Formal Garden at Colonel Bill Barber Marine Corps Memorial Park.

“Veterans Day is a chance to honor and support the many individuals and families who have sacrificed everything for our freedom,” said Mayor Farrah N. Khan. “I invite you all to attend the ceremony and pay tribute to veterans near and far.”

Irvine Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Critical Missing Person

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is seeking the public’s help in locating 84-year-old Changyu Zhou who was last seen at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Zhou was last seen in the area of the 300 block of Wycliffe. He is described as a Chinese, male, 5’2”, 130 pounds, with white hair, and brown eyes. When he left his residence he was wearing a black baseball cap, green shirt, black vest, blue jeans, and black Adidas shoes.

Zhou suffers from Alzheimer’s and is in need of medication. He speaks only Mandarin.

Irvine Police Investigating Fatal Traffic Collision

A two-year-old child has died after a collision involving a vehicle.

Last night, at approximately 8:05 p.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a reported traffic collision involving a child and a black Honda Odyssey. The collision occurred near the parking lot exit of the Cross Creek Apartments at 22 Creek Road.

The child was transported to a local hospital and died as a result of her injuries shortly after arrival. Her identity is not being released at this time.

Irvine Police Department Awarded $370,000 Grant to Deter Unsafe Behaviors, Increase Safety on Road

The Irvine Police Department will increase traffic enforcement throughout the community and provide other traffic safety programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on roads.

"We appreciate our great partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety," Chief Michael Kent said. "This generous funding will be used for innovative traffic safety programs, sobriety checkpoints, and increased traffic enforcement. The Irvine Police Department works every day to keep our roadways safe and we remain committed to reducing collisions in Irvine."
