Irvine Police Department to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Irvine, Calif. (October 12, 2022) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Community members can drop off unwanted medications at two designated locations in the City of Irvine. This free service, which allows the public to anonymously discard prescription medications, addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. The participating sites are:

For the 17th consecutive year, Irvine is the Safest City of its size for Part I violent crime when compared to FBI data just released for the 2021 calendar year. Irvine has the lowest rate of violent crime per capita of any city in the nation with a population of 250,000 or more.

The weather is getting colder and the holidays are near; it’s time for a celebration with those we hold dear. Join Irvine Senior Services for an evening of holiday cheer, including hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, and pictures with Santa. 2022 Holiday Tree Lighting Event

Kick off the season with the lighting of the Civic Center holiday tree, and join us for an evening of holiday cheer. The event will include visits with Santa Claus, live holiday music, and a winter-themed train route. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift suitable for infants or children up to age 12. Toy donations aid the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee Holiday Toy Drive, which benefits the families of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion. For more information, call 949-724-6606.
