Irvine, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2016) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) has arrested Lorena Guadalupe Arreguin in connection with a string of storage-unit burglaries and mail thefts that have occurred from May through November of this year.

Irvine Civic Center to become a Winter Wonderland

Celebrate the season as the Irvine Civic Center transforms into a Winter Wonderland on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 3-8 p.m. 
 
The event will feature a 25-foot-tall, live tree adorned with ornaments and holiday lights; a Joyful Jingles holiday program; children’s activities; and train rides. Guests can enjoy refreshments from the mobile food trucks and a festive tree-lighting as “snow” gently falls over the piazza. Children are in for a special treat when Santa stops by for a visit.

Citizen Tips Off Police to Residential Burglary in Progress

Irvine, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2016) – An observant Irvine resident called police Wednesday after witnessing suspicious activity in her neighborhood, setting off a series of events that led to the arrest of two suspects.

Around 1:30 p.m. on November 16, the Irvine Police Department responded to a call on the 3000 block of Myrtle Street in Irvine. Officers observed two men – later identified as Kolin Javae Johnson, 18, and Billie Ray Lorthridge, 18, both of Compton – exiting a home that had just been burglarized.

Marine Way Reopens at Great Park

The Marine Way entrance to the Orange County Great Park will reopen to the public on Nov. 21. The entrance will take visitors to the Western Sector soccer fields, festival lot and Farm + Food Lab. The Great Park Boulevard entrance will remain open, providing two entry ways into the western portion of the Great Park. Both entrances are reached via Sand Canyon Boulevard, near the I-5 Freeway.

Toy Drive to Benefit Military Families during the Holiday Season

Join the City of Irvine and the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee in brightening the season for military families. The Holiday Toy Drive, which runs through Dec. 11, benefits the families of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion. Help bring joy to these families during the holidays by donating an unwrapped gift suitable for infants or children up to age 12.

Donations bins are located at the Irvine Civic Center and Irvine Police Department lobbies, 1 Civic Center Drive, Irvine; and the Orange County Great Park Visitors Center.
