On April 9, Christina L. Shea was sworn-in as the Mayor of Irvine during a ceremony at the Irvine Civic Center. The City of Irvine congratulates Mayor Shea and presents a special commemoration video featuring her family, friends, and colleagues.
In conjunction with the Orange County Great Park’s The Art of Competition exhibition and the countywide arts festival Imagination Celebration, the City of Irvine invites you to join us for a movie night on Friday, April 19, in celebration of the world of sports. Enjoy the Great Park Gallery's extended hours from noon to 7 p.m., and check out The Art of Competition on display. Then, enjoy a screening of D2: The Mighty Ducks on the Terraced Lawn after sunset.
At its meeting Tuesday, the Irvine City Council agreed to a proposed settlement with the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) that will keep the City with the fire authority through 2030. The $50 million agreement represents a collaborative effort by the City and OCFA to come to terms over differences that led the City to give notice of withdrawal from OCFA in June 2018. The Council voted 4-0 to approve the deal.

Become a Transport Volunteer for the Irvine Animal Care Center
The Irvine Animal Care Center currently has new volunteer recruitment opportunities available as a Transport Volunteer. Transport volunteers use their personal vehicles to transport animals to rescue organizations and shelters, as well as pick up and drop off pets at medical appointments.

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members can drop off unwanted medications at four designated locations in the City of Irvine.
