Irvine S.T.A.R.S. – Bike Safety Course

The Irvine Police Department is offering a bicycle safety course for kids on Saturday, June 29, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Irvine Civic Center. The S.T.A.R.S. (Safety Training and Riding Skills) class is geared toward children ages 6-11 with basic bicycle riding skills. The course consists of a fun, educational bicycle skills course as well as classroom training. Students will be provided instruction in key areas, including:

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted Saturday, April 27, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Culver Drive and Irvine Boulevard.

Irvine Police Arrest Man Suspected in Attempted Residential Burglary

The Irvine Police Department has arrested a suspect in a series of attempted residential burglaries that occurred Saturday night and Sunday morning in Irvine. Jamon Rayon Buggs (age 44 - DOB 8/13/74), of Huntington Beach, is also suspected of firing a handgun at one of the residences that he attempted to burglarize.

City of Irvine Releases New Texting Feature to Schedule Inspections

As part of an ongoing effort to enhance customer service, the City of Irvine recently launched a new text messaging option to help residents and contractors easily schedule inspections and obtain permit results from the office of Building and Safety.

SelecTXT allows users to schedule and receive inspection results for all grading and construction work, including both residential and commercial, directly from their cell phones.

Irvine Police Department to Participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Community members can drop off unwanted medications at four designated locations in the City of Irvine. This free service, which allows the public to anonymously discard prescription medications, addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. The participating sites are:
