Irvine’s Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts Begin July 7

The City of Irvine’s annual summer tradition returns on Sunday, July 7, when the Sizzlin’ Summer Concerts kick off at Mike Ward Community Park – Woodbridge.

The community is invited to a series of six free family-friendly concerts out in the park covering a variety of musical tastes — from country hits and pop variety to classical symphony and dance party rock. Bring a picnic basket or plan to purchase treats from gourmet food trucks.

Celebrate Summertime with Movies on the Lawn at the Orange County Great Park

Spend your summer at the Orange County Great Park with the return of the annual summer tradition, Movies on the Lawn, kicking off Friday, June 21.

The community is invited to a series of free family-friendly movies screened outdoors on the Terraced Lawn. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a picnic, or purchase items from food trucks, which will be available on select dates.

Arrive at 6:30 p.m.; movies start after sunset and are weather permitting. Admission and parking are free.

Free Paper Shredding Event

In partnership with Waste Management, the City is hosting a free paper shredding event on Saturday, July 13 at the Lakeview Senior Center. Irvine residents can safely and securely dispose of up to five banker-size boxes (dimensions 24 inches x 12 inches) at a mobile shredding unit on-site.

Irvine Hosts XIII WBSC U-19 Women's Softball World Cup

On August 11-17, 2019, 16 junior National Teams, spanning all five Olympic continents, will battle for the title of World Champions at Bill Barber Memorial Park. The tournament will showcase 62 games during eight days of global competition.

The WBSC U-19 Women’s Softball World Cup has been staged every two years and features the best youth players in the world competing on their National Teams for softball’s Official World Championship in the respective category.

Summer Exhibitions at Irvine Fine Arts Center Begin June 15

The Irvine Fine Arts Center announces the opening of two summer exhibitions: one exploring notions of place and time, and the other investigating ideas of construction and transformation. The exhibitions run concurrently Saturday, June 15–Saturday, August 10. A free reception open to the public will take place on Saturday, June 15, 4–6 p.m. at the center.

To help you take steps to stay safe, the Irvine Police Department will provide training that educates parents on risks associated with teen social media use and offers tools to navigate these platforms with personal safety in mind. Irvine Child Care Project Board Seeks New Member-At-Large

The City of Irvine is accepting applications for one vacant volunteer position on the Irvine Child Care Project Board. Established in 1984, the Irvine Child Care Project is a joint powers agreement between the Irvine Unified School District and the City of Irvine, overseen by the Irvine Child Care Project Board of Directors.

Home for the Holidays 2019

Help animals find homes at the 13th annual Home for the Holidays pet adoption fair. More than 30 pet rescue groups and animal shelters will bring about 500 homeless dogs, cats, rabbits, and small animals for adoption. The fair also features dozens of pet-related vendors, gourmet food trucks, a silent auction, low-cost microchipping on-site, and an opportunity drawing. Support animals in need while enjoying a comedic night out on the town at the fourth annual Comedy Unleashed fundraiser at the Irvine Improv. Guests will be treated to dinner and a show with nearly half the proceeds going toward the Irvine Animal Care Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m.
