The City of Irvine invites the community to share input on Northwood Community Park playground improvements at an outreach meeting Monday, May 19, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Northwood Community Center.

The Northwood Community Park Improvement Project is designed to enhance park amenities and incorporate accessibility improvements, ensuring the space meets the needs of local residents. The project will focus on replacing outdated equipment, adding new features, and preserving the park’s unique castle-themed charm.

In partnership with the City of Irvine, Waste Management is hosting a free paper-shredding event Saturday, June 7, 9–11 a.m. at Lakeview Senior Center. Irvine Residents can safely and securely dispose of up to five banker-size file boxes. The event is first-come, first-served and will end early if the truck capacity is reached. Customers who wish to watch their paper be shredded will need to park in a designated area away from the truck and staff.

On view from Monday, April 7, through Friday, May 23, at Irvine City Hall, this annual showcase celebrates the creativity, skill, and unique perspectives of local high school students. A free opening reception will be held Thursday, April 24, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The City of Irvine and the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee are hosting the annual Baby Gift Drive to benefit the adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion. This initiative provides essential supplies, support, and care for Marine families. Donating new and unopened items, such as bounce seats, breast pumps, baby monitors, baby carriers, diapers, and wipes, can help make a difference for parents welcoming a new baby home.

Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

Irvine, Calif. (April 4, 2025) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License checkpoint as part of the Department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, from 7:00 p.m. to 2 a.m. around Jamboree Road and Michelson Drive.
