In partnership with the City of Irvine, Waste Management is hosting a free paper-shredding event Saturday, June 7, 9–11 a.m. at Lakeview Senior Center. Irvine residents can safely and securely dispose of up to five banker-size file boxes. The event is first-come, first-served and will end early if truck capacity is reached. Customers who wish to watch their paper be shredded will need to park in a designated area away from the truck and staff.

City of Irvine Seeks Applicants for Vacancy on New Health and Wellness Advisory Committee

As part of its ongoing commitment to the community’s health and well-being, the City of Irvine has established a Health and Wellness Advisory Committee. This newly formed committee will serve in an advisory capacity to the Irvine City Council, providing input on health and wellness initiatives related to children, youth, families, housing assistance, and mental health services.

The City is actively seeking applicants for one Member-at-Large volunteer position for the committee.

UPDATE 2: The Irvine Police Department is investigating the tragic death of a juvenile after an incident involving a firearm

Irvine, Calif. (March 28, 2025, 2:00 p.m.) – Our investigation has determined that the 13-year-old victim and a friend were visiting a juvenile resident at the location on Heathergreen. In addition to the three teens, a female adult was present inside the home at the time. The suspect arrested in this case, Christian Douglas Yeager, was not home during the incident.

The Irvine Police Department is investigating the tragic death of a juvenile after an incident involving a firearm

Irvine, Calif. (March 27, 2025) – Today, at 2:42 p.m., the Irvine Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority responded to a residence in the area of Heathergreen and Weepingwood regarding a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they found an injured juvenile and immediately began rendering medical aid. Sadly, he died a short time later.

Free Grocery Food Box for Irvine Residents

The City of Irvine, in collaboration with Community Action Partnership of Orange County, is offering The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). Eligible residents will receive a box of food weighing approximately 30 pounds once a month. The box contains a variety of dried beans, fresh produce, canned and frozen vegetables, fruit/vegetable juice, meat (when available), poultry, fish, nuts, milk, cheese, rice, cereal, and pasta.
