South Coast AQMD to Conduct Additional Air Sampling at All American Asphalt

South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) scientists, working in collaboration with experts from UCI, are conducting additional air sampling near the All American Asphalt plant. The two groups are co-locating their equipment to capture detailed information about potential chemical emissions and how emissions vary over time. This information will be released by AQMD as soon as the data is available and a link to this information will be provided on this website.

Irvine Police Arrest Man for Kidnapping, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Other Charges

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) arrested 28-year-old Daniel Ramirez for kidnapping and assaulting a man inside his apartment. His girlfriend, 27-year-old Mallory Arredondo, was also arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Irvine Children’s Fund Awarded Grants from City of Irvine and Federal Community Development Block Grant Program

On April 27 the Irvine Children’s Fund (ICF) was awarded more than a million dollars by the Irvine City Council through the U.S. Department of Labor’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Public Service, and Coronavirus Grant programs.

The Irvine City Council awarded a $60,389 CDBG Public Service grant to ICF to fund before and after school child care scholarships for low income, working families from Irvine. In addition, the Council awarded a one time, 3-year grant of $979,821 to help families negatively impacted by the pandemic.
