City of Irvine Facility Reservations for 2023 to Open in August

The City of Irvine will open calendar year 2023 facility reservation requests to the public in August. Reservation requests for indoor facilities, such as community centers and senior centers, and non-athletic use of outdoor facilities at community parks are opened annually according to the City’s Community Facilities Reservation Policy. Applications will be accepted beginning August 1 for Irvine residents; August 8 for Irvine-based nonprofit groups; and August 15 for all other groups, including nonresidents and Irvine commercial or for-profit businesses.

The City of Irvine has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris Secures $2.8 Million in Funding for City of Irvine's First Universal Playground

Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris recently secured $2.8 million in funding for the City of Irvine to renovate the playground at Sweet Shade Neighborhood Park, updating the recreational space to a Universal Playground that will meet the need of all residents regardless of ability. Sweet Shade is home to Sweet Shade Ability Center, where the City's Disability Services program provides activities for individuals with sensory, physical, or cognitive disabilities, and their family members.

Tickets Available to Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks Show

The City of Irvine is giving away 1,000 complimentary tickets for the Fourth of July concert and fireworks show at FivePoint Amphitheatre thanks to a generous donation from Live Nation.

Tickets to the Pacific Symphony Orchestra’s July 4 Spectacular: The Music of Queen are available on a first-come, first-served basis. High-energy band and vocalists Windborne will join Pacific Symphony to perform classic Queen hits as they have never been heard before. The evening will conclude with a Fourth of July fireworks finale.
