Irvine Police Department presents first CERT class taught in Mandarin

Irvine, Calif. (April 10, 2018) – On Monday, the Irvine Police Department kicked off its first ever Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) class taught in Mandarin. The program is the first of its kind in the state and is believed to be the first in the nation.

IPD reminds motorists to ‘Just Drive’ as part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Irvine, Calif. (April 9, 2018) – Ten years after “hands-free” became the law, drivers are using their cellphones less frequently, but distracted driving remains a serious safety challenge in California. During Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) is reminding motorists to “Just Drive.”

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

The Irvine Police Department will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  

Community members can drive up and drop off unwanted medications at the following locations in the City of Irvine:

  • Irvine Civic Center
  • Hoag Hospital
  • Kaiser Hospital
  • Irvine Valley College

Suspect in Anaheim Police Department Officer Involved Shooting Identified

The suspect in an Anaheim Police Department officer involved shooting Tuesday night has been identified as Kenneth John Yamashita-Magarro, 24. Magarro has two no-bail felony warrants in Orange County for drug-related crimes and is on formal probation.
