Irvine Mayor Donald P. Wagner Delivers his Second State of the City Address

Mayor Donald P. Wagner tonight delivered his second State of the City Address at the Irvine Civic Center. Topics included traffic improvements; the Southern California State Veterans Cemetery; and continued development of the 688 acres at the Orange County Great Park.

He also spoke to the unmatched quality of life in Irvine, highlighting the City’s reputation as one of the nation’s safest communities, the City Council’s continued financial support of Irvine’s public schools, and the vibrant business community.

Carjacking in Irvine Occurs During Pursuit

Irvine, Calif.  (Feb. 26, 2018) – A female Irvine resident was the victim of a carjacking during a pursuit initiated outside of the City on Monday.

On Monday evening, the Santa Ana Police Department informed the Irvine Police Department of a pursuit in which a suspect was driving in and out of Irvine. At approximately 5:40 p.m., the suspect came to a dead end on Rosa Drew. At that time, a female Irvine resident was backing up her black Audi SUV. The suspect exited his vehicle, opened the door of the Audi and pulled the woman from her vehicle.

COX Charities Awards Grant to Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee

The Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from COX Charities. COX Charities grants are funded by employee donations that are matched by the company. The grant funds are being used for the Marine families to supply new clothes, shoes and school supplies to children in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee thanks COX Charities, and appreciates the COX employees who donated their own money to supply the grants.

Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

Irvine, Calif. (Feb. 23, 2018) –  The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint as part of the department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 24, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Bake Parkway and Rockfield Boulevard.

Emergency Preparedness Meeting

The Irvine Police Department Emergency Management team will host a neighborhood meeting as part of its “Prepare Irvine” campaign. Topics covered include how to be prepared in the event of a natural disaster such as a wildfire in the area.

The meeting will be held Thursday, March 1 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Turtle Rock Community Center at Turtle Rock Community Park, 1 Sunnyhill. No RSVP is necessary to attend this free community forum.

Golden Parks: Huell Howser Exhibit Opens March 4

The Orange County Great Park announces the opening of its latest art exhibition, Golden Parks: Huell Howser. The exhibit runs Sunday, March 4-Sunday, May 13, with an exhibition opening on Sunday, March 4, 1-3 p.m. Exhibit, opening and parking are free and open to the public.
