'New Normal: Skateboarding Now' & 'Deck Design: A Survey of Skateboard Evolution'

The City of Irvine is pleased to present the upcoming exhibitions, New Normal: Skateboarding Now at the Great Park Gallery, and Deck Design: A Survey of Skateboard Evolution at the Great Park Artist Studios –– opening Sunday, June 4, and concluding Sunday, August 27. These exhibitions will also feature two interactive Slushcult Fingerboard Sessions at the Great Park Artists Studio and Palm Court Arts Complex.

General Plan Update Community Workshop

The City of Irvine is preparing an update to its General Plan, a state-required document representing its vision for the next 25 years and beyond. The 2045 General Plan Update will include goals and policies to help the City reach its long-term vision of preserving and enhancing Irvine’s high quality of life as the City matures.

Two community workshops will be held for residents to learn more about the Update as we focus on the land use and circulation elements, ask questions, and provide input. The workshops will take place at the following times and locations:

Irvine Police Investigating a Fatal Traffic Collision

Irvine, Calif. (May 20, 2023) – A man has died after his vehicle collided with a tree.

Today, at 4:05 a.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to reports of a single-vehicle traffic collision on Harvard Avenue, near University Drive.

Irvine Residents Encouraged To Draw Voting District Maps for City Council Consideration

The City of Irvine is amid its pursuit from at-large City Council elections to district elections. Currently, registered Irvine voters vote for the Mayor and all four City Councilmembers. At a special election in March 2024, Irvine residents will have the opportunity to decide whether to expand the City Council to six Councilmembers and shift to district elections. If approved, each voter would vote for the Mayor and one Councilmember to represent the district they live in.

Irvine Police Department to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint

Irvine, Calif. (May 17, 2023) – The Irvine Police Department (IPD) will conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License checkpoint as part of the Department’s continued commitment to reducing injuries and deaths caused by impaired drivers. The checkpoint will be conducted on Saturday, May 27, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the area of Culver Drive and Walnut Avenue.
